Responsive srcset
The thumbnail uses a responsive srcset so the browser picks the best size for the viewport. When clicked, the lightbox loads the highest- resolution source automatically.

Use full-src to point the lightbox at a specific high-res file regardless of what srcset contains:

Responsive images can also combine with dark-mode variants. The lightbox will prefer the dark variant when in dark mode:
